When learning to drive it is important to follow a professionally structured syllabus, to ensure good driving practices are developed in a safe and comfortable environment. My syllabus here at Peter Hamilton Driving School is based extensively on the Driving Standards Agency instructions and guidelines, the Highway Code and Roadcraft.
A well structured driving programme will ensure that the learner will make the most progress possible whilst getting exceptional value for their money.
A common question I hear is “How long will it take to pass my test?” The Driving Standard Agency i.e. the people who mark the test state that on average a learner takes 46 hours of professional tuition. Previous driving experience either with a qualified instructor or with family and friends will reduce the amount of hours needed.
I am usually able to make a reasonably accurate assessment of how long it will take an individual after 5-6 hours of tuition.
Lessons can be structured around your lifestyle, work or college, I find that the best progress is made by pupils who take a two hour lesson once a week, but if you want more or less hours per week that is possible as well.
